50s Party for Math Excellence                                 
Christian Academy of Knoxville middle school students were challenged
to meet 50 objectives in an Accelerated Math class during Fall
semester. The reward? A 50s theme party and luncheon when classes
resumed in January.

During the learning process, not only were math skills reinforced, but
many students who thought this goal was daunting worked incredibly
hard and were thrilled when they succeeded.

“To hear the squeals when they saw that magical 50 appear on their
printouts was a sound a teacher never tires of hearing,” admits Math
teacher Gwynn Pearman.  

Mrs. Pearman hopes the 50 objective challenge also served to reinforce
some life lessons.

“When students are challenged to do the work of God and feel the task
is too overwhelming, they remember what was accomplished here in
the classroom. They’ll know that, with the support of the Holy Spirit, they
should never doubt what can actually be accomplished.“
