It’s time for Teacher Tuesday! Meet the incredible educators who inspire, encourage, and walk alongside our Warriors in and out of the classroom.
This week, we’re highlighting high school history teacher, Mr. Travis Mozingo! Mr. Mozingo teaches Dual Enrollment U.S. History and Contemporary Issues and has been part of the CAK family for 10 years.
He and his wife, Beth, are deeply connected to CAK—Beth works in the business office, and all three of their children are proud CAK alumni. Their oldest daughter, Madeline, is now a teacher herself, Mackenna is working and living in Florida, and Maddox is a freshman at Tennessee Wesleyan University.
When he’s not in the classroom, Mr. Mozingo coaches outside linebackers at Maryville College, enjoys hiking, hunting, and exploring National Parks.
When asked what he loves most about teaching at CAK, he said: “Spending my days with America’s future leaders!”
We’re grateful for the way Mr. Mozingo brings history to life and pours into our students each day!
Happy Teacher Tuesday! We love celebrating the teachers who make CAK such a special place to learn and grow.
Meet Mrs. Jennifer Shaw, one of our wonderful 2nd-grade teachers! This is her fourth year at CAK, and she says she loves teaching here because of the strong academics, faith-based community, and the joy of being here with her own children.
“I love my students, coworkers, and administration!” Mrs. Shaw shared when asked about her favorite part of teaching at CAK.
She and her husband of 27 years have two children—Ava, a sophomore nursing student at UT, and Jack, a current junior at CAK. When she’s not in the classroom, Mrs. Shaw enjoys reading, traveling, shopping, and cheering on Jack at basketball games.
We’re so thankful for Mrs. Shaw’s heart for teaching and the way she shares Christ’s love with her students each day! 💙💛
It’s Teacher Tuesday! Each week, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our amazing CAK teachers who pour into our Warriors every single day.
Meet Mrs. Deb Wakefield, one of CAK’s dedicated Biology teachers! Mrs. Wakefield has been part of our faculty for four years, and she loves the opportunity to teach science from a biblical worldview. “I feel that the heart of Jesus is well represented here at CAK,” she shares, adding that it’s the people that make this community so special.
Science keeps her on her toes—“it’s always changing”—and she enjoys the challenge of bringing that excitement into her classroom. Since starting at CAK, Mrs. Wakefield has earned her Master’s degree in Biology and, just this month, began the Colson Fellowship on Christian Worldview to deepen her passion for integrating faith and learning.
Outside of school, Mrs. Wakefield and her husband, Jamie, are celebrating 28 years of marriage next month. They have two children: Lillian (25), an EMT, and Jake (21), a CAK graduate from the Class of 2019 and now a junior at Auburn. Their household is full and joyful, also including her parents and their three dogs, Deb's two therapy dogs, Parker and Riley, a chihuahua named Angel, and a cat named Jessie.
When she’s not teaching, you can find Mrs. Wakefield knitting, reading, shopping, or helping with yardwork.
We’re grateful to have Mrs. Wakefield’s passion for science and Christ-centered teaching here at CAK!
